Il y a 60 ans l’Amateur Athletic Union interdisait aux femmes am\u00e9ricaines de courir de longues distances (auxquels cas leurs r\u00e9sultats n’\u00e9taient pas pris en compte). M\u00eame aux Jeux Olympiques, elles n’\u00e9taient pas autoris\u00e9es \u00e0 courir plus de 800 m\u00e8tres. Pourquoi ? Officiellement, parce qu’elles risquaient d’y laisser leur ut\u00e9rus. On s’en sort bien, on aurait pu avoir droit \u00e0 une saign\u00e9e bas\u00e9e sur l’analyse de nos humeurs.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Le 23 novembre 1961, Julia Chase-Brand, Chris McKenzie et Dianne Lechausse ont particip\u00e9 \u00e0 la Manchester Road race (7km 1\/2) aux cot\u00e9 de 138 hommes.<\/p>

Si Chris McKenzie bien qu’en t\u00eate des femmes, ne passe pas la ligne d’arriv\u00e9e craignant pour des sanctions \u00e0 vie, Julia Chase-Brand passera la ligne d’arriv\u00e9e \u00e0 la 128\u00e8me place, en 33 mn 40, battant ainsi 10 hommes.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

On a pu participer mais \u00e0 la seule condition que nos victoires ne comptent pas. Il y a eu Roberta \u00ab\u00a0Bobby\u00a0\u00bb Gibb en 1966, mais surtout il y a eu K.V. Switzer en 1967. Katherine Switzer qui avait r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 passer inaper\u00e7ue lors de son inscription en se servant de ses initiales plut\u00f4t que de son pr\u00e9nom, passera la ligne avec un dossard. Ses r\u00e9sultats, encore une fois, ne compteront pas, mais 5 ans plus tard les femmes seront enfin autoris\u00e9es \u00e0 participer au Marathon de Boston.<\/p>
